Home Visits

Home visits are meant for people who are house bound or too ill to travel to the surgery. Whenever possible try and come to the surgery where facilities allow for a more thorough and professional assessment of your illness.

Please telephone reception before 10:00 if you think you need a home visit.

Please note that children should be brought to the surgery by a parent or responsible adult.

A doctor will telephone you to assess the urgency of your request and deal with it appropriately. You may not actually need a home visit and the Dr may offer you an appointment at the surgery on the same day.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit.

The surgery is committed to ensuring the best possible service is provided to all patients registered here. Missed appointments lead to delays in treatment and longer waiting times to get to see the Dr. Patients who miss appointments without notifying the practice are wasting appointments that could be offered to people who really need them and this is unfair.

We implement our Missed Appointment Policy below to ensure that we have as little missed appointments as possible.

When you book your appointment at the surgery, please ensure that you make a note of the appointment date and time so that you are able to keep it.

If you do not keep your appointment, the reception staff will call you on the same day and try to ascertain why the appointment was missed. We will log the call and also the reasons given.

If you miss a second appointment we will carry out the same steps by contacting you on the phone to find out why you missed your appointment, this will also be logged.

After 3 missed appointments you will receive a call from the practice manager. If the practice manager feels that you do not have sound reasons for missing your appointments then you may be removed from the list and asked to register with another GP practice.

If you think you cannot make your appointment, please ring in advance and let us know in plenty of time.

The practice is part of the SWEAP project which is approved by Salford CCG. This is currently a pilot.

The SWEAP project offers appointments with GPs, nurses and healthcare assistants.

These appointments are offered at a number of locations:

  • Walkden Gateway
  • Swinton Gateway
  • Eccles Gateway
  • Pendleton Gateway
  • Ordsall and other locales

The appointments are offered Monday to Friday, outside of normal GP hours, and Saturday and Sunday 09:00 to 13:00.

The clinics can deal with all issues that you would normally see your own surgery for including smear tests, blood tests etc.

To book an appointment please ring Cherry Medical Practice reception and we will book your appointment for you.
